A quantitative research method has been conducted on two types of informants: a questionnaire has been administered to sample of English language learners in the Algerian middle and secondary schools and an interview has been conducted with a number of teachers of English in the two stages of education. The results obtained make evidence of the necessity to attach a paramount importance to learner affect in all foreign language teaching and learning activities to ensure success.
