language enterprise, in which English is concerned , has been exposed to an utmost change
resulting in the adoption of the Competency - Based Approach .Alternative assessment , has
received high attention as the best means through which educational objectives are met. To
this end, project work was implemented as a twofold device for instruction and assessment
alike to enhance independent learning and enable the learner to face the challenges of the 21 st
century .The target behind this study was to satisfy our curiosity towards the EFL teachers’
adjustment to the changing project - based shape of instruction and assessment. The findings
showed that EFL teachers in Algeria feel acquainted with the use of traditional testing while
