of the world, led by the Soviet Union, and the non-communist countries of the world,
led by the United States. It was a conflict in which both sides tried to dominate the
world with their ideology. It is called “cold” because it was not an actual “shooting

first world belonged to United States and the western bloc, the second world belonged
to Soviet Union and eastern bloc and the rest of weak countries belonged to the third
world. In addition, the cold war spawned many different third world rebellions and affected many
small countries during its course. Third world countries became the perfect battleground for cold
war proxy battles. United States wanted to flex its political muscle and try to curtail the spread of
Soviet Communism in the developing nations. Most of the nations in developed world had
already made their political and socio-economic stand regarding the form of governance and

vulnerable and easily influenced in terms of ideologies and political direction. Most nations in
Africa like Algeria were recovering from colonialism and thus logistic, economic and political

on positivism; however, the need for better quality education, innovation and change in
the teaching methods has apparently shifted towards constructivist principles. The focus
on learner-centeredness is as strong as ever, since traditional approaches are less used in
EFL classrooms; instead, many updated approaches have taken place in order to improve
the quality of teaching. As attempts to teach English effectively in Algeria, the CBA
approach has been adopted as an instructional methodology in order to develop learners’
competencies through second generation textbooks. Therefore, the current research aimed
at providing details about the syllabus of second generation programme, the CBA
approach and their impact on the learners’ level and the way teachers adopt this method.
The 2nd year EFL learners at Farouani Middle School are selected as a case study. The
research findings and conclusions show that there is a gap in the textbook syllabus since
the majority of titles focus on teaching oral expression items in opposition to the written
aspects that should be both balanced. In addition, the obstacles that face teachers when
applying this program and the elements they lack. Finally, the researcher tries to provide

Victorian industrial society on fictitious characters in Charles Dickens‗s Hard Time
(1854). In other words, it aims at depicting the traces of the real Victorian lifestyle on
characters in one of the greatest Dickensian novels; which some critics view as a
dazzling unique masterpiece due to its philosophical, psychological and linguistic
depth. It, therefore, depicts the reflections of the social environment on the
psychological and behavioural structure of the character. The main reasons that
triggered this research are two-fold. First, to decipher the Sociological perplexity of
this novel. Second, to spot and unveil Charles Dickens‘s talent in depicting these
reflections. In so doing, it is necessary to shed light on the major characteristics of the
Victorian Era. Based on the survey of the social background of the Victorian era and

Format : 21*27 cm. Langues : Anglais (eng) Mots-clés : Ivorian speakers, Attitudes, Local languages, French, Status. Résumé : Colonized by France from 1893, Ivory Coast (IC) obtained its independence in 1960 and
adopted the French language as the official language of the country. However, before IC
officially became a French colony, many local and African languages were spoken by all
Ivorians. In spite of their covert prestige face to the status of French and its prestige in the
country, those local languages kept their strength against French as not to disappear. Thus,
since that time and till now, the status of French is challenged among Ivorian speakers.
Thenceforth, the present study aims at explaining how French is perceived in IC and also the
attitude of Ivorian speakers towards this language as well. To carry out this study, three
research instruments were used: an observation that helped in preparing questions, a survey
addressed to a sample of 90 educated participants involving three different categories of age
and an interview which was administered to seniors from the township of Port Bouet. The Status of French among Ivory Coast Speakers [texte imprimé] / Théo Samuel GBEUTIBOUO Groguhé, Auteur . - Tlemcen : University Aboubakr Belkaid, 2019 . - 93 p. ; 21*27 cm.
