ABSTRACT
As a part of Tlemcenian Domain, the Traras Mountains (North-West Algeria) are marked during Upper Pliensbachian-
Toarcian by an Upper offshore sedimentation constituted by "Marno-calcaires de Bayada Fm" Basin. In the present work, the
micropaleontology ostracods study in sedimentary series made possible to recognize for the first time determination of 32 species
belonging to 14 genera. Their biostratigraphic distribution in four sections corresponds to several associations that are well calibrated to
the Toarcian standard zonation of the Mediterranean province.
Moreover, the stratigraphic distributions with generic and specific diversity of the ostracods have recorded strong well
variations of several paleoecological parameters. As well, the decrease of some ostracods forms at the top of the Upper Pliensbachian-
Lower Toarcian is a replic to the hypoxic phase related probably to the biotic crisis of (T-OAE). This phase is followed by an abundant
period of ostracods in Middle Toarcian (Bifrons Zone).
At the end, the ostracods biogeography of Upper Pliensbachian (Emaciatum zone) and Lower Toarcian (Polymorphum and
Levisoni zones) is studied by quantitatively approach. The use of the multivariate methods has permitted to compare nine Basins related
to paleobiogeographic provinces of the Western Tethys. The comparison of different Basins with all chronological intervals confused,
shows us a perfect relation between the geographic position of (Lusitanian and Traras) Basins which are linked the Beni Snassen Basin
firstly and the (Paris and Aquitanian) Basins secondly. Otherwise, the comparison of different Basins for each chronological interval
indicate a stability during the three chronological intervals of ostracofauna in (Traras and Lusitanian) Basins and remotenes s of (Paris,
South Germany and Umbria-Marches) Basins.
