Concise lexicon for sign linguistics / Jan nijen Twilhaar
Titre : Concise lexicon for sign linguistics Type de document : texte imprimé Auteurs : Jan nijen Twilhaar, Auteur ; van den bogaerde Beppie, Auteur Editeur : john benjamins publishing company Année de publication : 2016 Importance : 230 p. Format : 24*17 cm. ISBN/ISSN/EAN : 978-90-272-1234-4 Langues : Anglais (eng) Résumé : This extensive, well-researched and clearly formatted lexicon of a wide variety of linguistic terms is a long overdue. It is an extremely welcome addition to the bookshelves of sign language teachers, interpreters, linguists, learners and other sign language users, and of course of the Deaf themselves.
Unique to this lexicon is not only the inclusion of many terms that are used especially for sign languages, but also the fact that for the terms, there are not only examples from spoken languages but there are also glossed and translated examples from several different sign languages.
There are many interesting features to this lexicon. There is an immediate temptation to find examples of terms in the sign language one is studying as well as determining how many of the most used concepts would be signed in the local language. As there are to date still almost no reference grammars of sign languages, the definitions of many of these concepts would be extremely helpful for those linguists planning to make a reference grammar of their sign language.Concise lexicon for sign linguistics [texte imprimé] / Jan nijen Twilhaar, Auteur ; van den bogaerde Beppie, Auteur . - john benjamins publishing company, 2016 . - 230 p. ; 24*17 cm.

Titre : Implicit and Explicit Learning of Languages : Studies in bilingualism Type de document : texte imprimé Auteurs : Rebuschat, Patrick, Auteur Editeur : john benjamins publishing company Année de publication : 2015 Importance : 489 p. Format : 24*16 cm. ISBN/ISSN/EAN : 978-90-272-4190-0 Langues : Anglais (eng) Résumé : Implicit learning is a fundamental feature of human cognition. Many essential skills, including language comprehension and production, intuitive decision making, and social interaction, are largely dependent on implicit (unconscious) knowledge. Given its relevance, it is not surprising that the study of implicit learning plays a central role in the cognitive sciences. The present volume brings together eminent researchers from a variety of fields (e.g., cognitive psychology, linguistics, education, cognitive neuroscience, developmental psychology) in order to assess the progress made in the study of implicit and explicit learning, to critically evaluate key concepts and methodologies, and to determine future directions to take in this interdisciplinary enterprise. The eighteen chapters in this volume are written in an accessible and engaging fashion; together, they provide the reader with a comprehensive snapshot of the exciting current work on the implicit and explicit learning of languages. Format : 24*17 cm. ISBN/ISSN/EAN : çè_çà éèé(_(__ Langues : Anglais (eng) Résumé : In Sign Language Interpreting (SLI) there is a great need for a volume devoted to classic and seminal articles and essays dedicated to this specific domain of language interpreting. Students, educators, and practitioners will benefit from having access to a collection of historical and influential articles that contributed to the progress of the global SLI profession. In SLI there is a long history of outstanding research and scholarship, much of which is now out of print, or was published in obscure journals, or featured in publications that are no longer in print. These readings are significant to the progression of SLI as an academic discipline and a profession. As the years have gone by, many of these readings have been lost to students, educators, and practitioners because they are difficult to locate or unavailable, or because this audience simply does not know they exist. This volume brings together the seminal texts in our field that document the philosophical, evidence-based and analytical progression of SLI work The Sign Language Interpreting Studies Reader [texte imprimé] / B.Roy Cynthia, Éditeur scientifique ; Jemina Napier, Éditeur scientifique . - john benjamins publishing company, 2015 . - 418 p. ; 24*17 cm.
